Old School Salmon Tool

I like to use the Rotary Salmon Killers (RSK) when trolling for salmon, but they are difficult to load sometimes...especially if my fingers are wet & numb & cold.
This tool makes it easy to load an RSK with one hand. My friend Ray Ng built this one from HDPE or cutting board material.
Simply slide the RSK onto the block, then use a small metal bar to pry it open...now the delicate bait is loaded into the RSK and ready to rock.
I'll have it at Shelter Cove if anybody wants to check it out or take measurements to make their own.
Not seen in these pics is a small hole that houses the metal pry bar when in storage.

I almost expected a selfie here.

 that is a pretty cool little bit of engineering there. Would save the bait from getting beat up during the loading process for sure.

Nifty. I've also heard of people dipping RSKs in boiling water and bending them out a little. That way they don't smash your chovy quite as bad.

I'm pretty happy with my Krippled Anchovies, though.

Nice bit of engineering/adaptation. I think I may give making something like that a try.
