Guess I found a new use for my 'Project x' trailer ... my mobile "life support" system in the event of a natural disaster.

In all seriousness, this is a GREAT reminder to check your long-term survival stuff (food, water, first aid, a PLAN, etc...)

After experiencing a wild-land fire that took out our home and everything we owned with it, I put together an RV and equipped it with what I figured I'd need in another emergency.

I've got a diesel truck with a self contained camper that is almost always ready to roll.  It's outfitted with everything from a generator to solar power and I top off the fuel tank any time it's down a quarter tank.  It's stocked with food, medicines, medical supplies, propane, gasoline, diesel, clothes, a prepaid cell phone, spare credit cards, a preloaded debit card, I.D., prescription glasses, a memory stick with my account #'s and passwords, guns and ammo, cash, gold coins, well... just about anything I could think of to sustain me and DW for at least a week and probably a lot longer.  I keep this parked in a very open area of the property, away from any structures or anything that can even burn in case of fire.  If there is time, I can also load up my dual sport motorcycle to a front rack and a trailer to the back.

Having a plan for WTSHTF is something that everyone needs to have.  We have a plan on where to meet in case we are cut off for example, depending on the nature of the emergency.  If having an RV is not practical, then maybe just upgrading your car to a 4-wheel-drive and storing the essentials I've mentioned in an off-site facility like a storage yard where you can rent a small, locked enclosure and keep a few emergency supplies.

Check out CNN right now and see if you would be ready for that.

IMO the most likely scenario those of us in "urban" areas are likely to face.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

I have a ruck sack and lbv with standard load ready to rock n roll at all times. Team Brockman is good to go in any situation ;) Ruck sack has filtration system, MRE's and everything I need until I find those twinkies.

If its as big as expected the roads will most likely be un passable. I have some livestock as far as food and a huge water tank on a pump if needed. I have plenty of guns and ammo and first aid kits. Lots of canned and boxed goods. My problem would be keeping the beer cold. :smt009

I don't read anything that ends in .uk   :smt044
And I'm not very prepared for a natural disaster of said magnitude. But I don't have to be. I'll just steal Jerry's RV!  :smt005

That's why I moved to weimar.... After Loma Prieta, Figured I would rather face fire that I can prepare against. Those  without cash back then when all the ATM's were down were coming to me for help/cash/food.... I can see um coming in weimar.
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Im stocked up on canned foods and pastas that we don't really eat.  I use to have 10 gallons of water in my closet, but now have no place to store them. Food and shelter aid generally takes 2 weeks for FEMA to reach disaster areas in the US.

Basically If mt dwelling is secure and not fallen over I would lock up and stay home. If its not, Hopefully my truck is running and I would head for the closest hill, and finally put 4low to use crawling over all the Prius and yuppy vehicles...

I also have a bunch of knives, guns, and extra ammo. But those are meant for zombies.  :smt010

If you're speaking of Baltimore, it's simply RIDICULOUS what they are doing there right now :smt013

A well stocked pantry. Store what you eat. A good supply of drinking water, and or water filtration. A plan and equipment for self defense. First aid supplies. Money to pay bills with in case you don't have a paycheck for a while.

I still need more money  :smt004

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan
