Anyone ever fish here? I drove by it this weekend and there was not a soul on the lake. Lots of bank fishermen. Was just curious, might make a good spot to hit in the evening after a work day.

Used to frequently paddle scr for semi-urban outings.  http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=12303.msg115409#msg115409
And it looks ike SCR opened up on April 15 for boating!  Along with Calero, Coyote Lake, and Anderson ... http://www.sccgov.org/sites/parks/Activities/Boating-Fishing/Pages/Boating.aspx

Sadly, looks like DFW (nee' DFG) has suspended all fish planting for Santa Clara County.  We don't show up at all on the scheduled plants.
Its still some sweet time OTW when the water is up.

I have been there plenty of times.  there used to be plenty of crappie there when the lake was at capacity.  They used to plant trout there but it doesn't show up on the schedule this year.  last time i went there there were branches sticking out of the lake.  there is something going on with the water where it may make your skin itch.  I had a terrible rash last time i was in the water.  Also if you are taking out your kayak its about 26$ for parking and boat inspection.  I have seen turtles, bass, catfish, trout and crappie but that was years ago.  You might have better luck at cunningham.  i think they did a plant there last month.

I thought bodily water contact (swimming, wading, etc) was prohibited at SCR. It's been a while so maybe I'm confused.

I think you're right. Probably a special permit. The website says no swimming or wading but water skiing is OK.   :smt102

Probably saves on the need for facilities and a life guard.

I live just up the hill from SCR and I haven't seen any boats other than the rowers out there. I bike the trails frequently, so sometime this week I'll stop by to see if it's open. But, even if it is, it's ridiculously expensive to launch...

Before California got a wild hair and quit stocking trout in SCR is used to be fun to catch those little buggers out a kayak. When I lived nearby, I used to love to get out there and learn the ins and outs of kayak fishing. Learned a lot going out there and like I said, it was fun catching those little stocker trout.

Yeah, I used to ditch work and head there to catch trout around 2004-2007. Too bad it's no longer being stocked...

Pretty sure i read somewhere that SCR prohibits gas motor.  Can skiier get on step behind a 30 foot thrust of Minn Kota?!  I'd pay a dollar to see someone try.   :smt005

Seems like county parks needs to update they website.

Anyway, now that the lake is open, maybe worthwhile to buy the season pass parks pass

Used to have weekly trout stocks, but they were discontinued when DFG got sued for not having environmental impact reports for all of the waters they stocked. I heard that is was about $75 worth of hoops to resume the stocking at Lopez Lake. They probably didn't want to shell out the $$$ for SCR. But it used to be dynamic for trout form shore or the yack. There used to be some monster bass that would swim off with people's trout on stringers.

Scratch that. My brain was malfunctioning yesterday. I live near Lexington, not SCR.

We like to do some shore bass fishing at Lexington.  Quinn caught his first ever Bass on his Spiderman Pole there  :smt003  I keep meaning to bring a rod and hit it after work, now that there is enough light in the evening to fish.
