California Canoe and Kayak (CCK) will be hosting their annual Paddlefest event on 13-14 June 2015 at Lake Natoma, CA.  Saturday (6/13) is focused on kayaks/canoes/SUPs, while Sunday (6/14) is focused on SUPs.  Event runs from 10-3 and cost is $15 that allows you to demo as many kayaks as you want all day.

They'll have all of their Hobie, Jackson, Feel Free fishing kayaks available for demo with reps and anglers available to provide info.  Great chance to compare various Hobie models (Outback, Revo, PAs, Adventure, AI) back-to-back if you are considering a Hobie.  There will be a few NCKAers around to help out, we'll have a few rigged fishing kayaks.

Event will be held at the Nimbus Flat State Recreation Area accessed off of Hazel Ave, just south of the dam near the Aquatic Center. It's a fun day and nice setting for a family picnic with biking, hiking and swimming in addition to the Paddlefest event.  I think parking is $8.

Bump.

Just a heads-up for this event on 6/13.  Great opportunity for back-to-back comparison of all Hobie and Jackson fishing kayaks.   They'll be a few of us NCKAers helping out so please say hello if you attend.

Last year it was a great event and Bird was a very helpful.  A good way to tryout and compare different kayaks.

I thought I read in the BEE today that Nimbus Flat is being retrofitted for ADA and that Negro Bar and Willow are being recommended.  From now through August I think it said.  Boat ramp and restrooms shut down. How this affect your event?

Jerry - I'll check with CCK, I've not heard anything otherwise.  Thanks for the heads-up.

Just talked with Jeff at CCK - event is scheduled and permitted with CSP, and is a go.  If the permanent bathrooms are closed for ADA upgrades there will be portables available.

I just checked their website - cost is $15 for the full day which includes a PFD/paddle if needed and all day access to all kayak/SUP models for demo.  Saturday is kayaks and SUPs, Sunday is SUPs only.

I'm glad this is posted here. I couldn't find any info for the exact location on the CCK website.  :smt102
Answered my own question. I see the first post says there is an extra charge to park. The park web site shows $10 day use fee. Also the CCK site says Saturday is $15 kayak and canoe day. Sunday is $25 SUP day.

Anyone know if there will be Wilderness Systems yaks or a rep at the event? I can call the shop and find out but was wondering if anyone knew off the bat.

What Wildy kayaks do you want to try? I have most available. CCK does not carry Wildy.

My brother in law wants to get a fishing kayak. I think he is interested in checking out some new wilderness models.

Greetings all - as Bird posted below, CCK's PaddleFest this Saturday at Lake Natoma will be most useful for those wishing to try quality fishing kayaks prior to purchase. Brands represented include Feel Free, Hobie, Hurricane, Jackson and Wilderness Systems. Some but not all factory reps will be on site.

To clarify RacinRob's post - and it is not his fault, team paddlers are often the last to know/find out about distribution - CCK has been a Wilderness Systems (and Dagger) dealer since December after buying out Aquan Sports' inventory in San Carlos. In deference to another dealer in Sacramento, CCK Rancho Cordova is currently NOT listed on the Wildy website dealer finder at that location. We are listed in Oakland and San Carlos. All stores have boats.

We just received two A.T.A.K 140 demos in San Carlos and one is being transferred today to Rancho Cordova for PaddleFest. Come check it out and take it for a test spin. (We have pre-sold two!) Retail boats will be arriving in about two weeks.

Rob - if you can make Paddlefest that would be great. Please contact Jeff at the Rancho store or me back channel if this is at all possible.

In the meantime - GO WARRIORS!!!

Cheers - Keith

I had fun checking out a lot of different kayaks. I got to paddle some of the large stand up/lawn chair type kayaks. I liked the ATAK the best of all the big ones. I tried a hobie for the first time. Those thing really move and they didn't even have turbo fins. With all the different kayak options, sizes and features, every boat has its pluses and minues. Considering length, weight, features and stability of many different kayaks I still like my Tarpon 120 best of all the kayaks I've been in. My brother in law bought a Hurricane Skimmer 140 angler edition and ordered a rudder. They didn't have any in stock so he took the demo model for another hundred or so off the price. He would have liked to get a stand up capable kayak, but weight was more important. Getting older makes it difficult to put a 100lb kayak on a car top. He is happy and I heard someone say they were selling lots of kayaks, so I assume CCK is happy as well. Anyone else try out the ATAK?
