Hi everyone,
I just got new kayak "Equinox angler" from Costco. It's not the one I dreamed about, but the price was very fair.
I don't have any experience in kayak fishing and will be thankful if you give me your opinion about this "ship" and help to gear it up.
Thanks

Welcome!
My advice, don't go on it without a life vest. Also, don't overload it...... Keep it simple. And consider going to a group event to learn some tricks from folks who have done it a while.....
Have fun and be safe!

I highly recommend falling off your boat and practice getting back on.. It helped me when I needed it.

welcome new member.
wear a life vest and experiment on a small body of water like a pond then experiment with slow flow of the Sacramento River. if you venture into the ocean go with some people that are experienced with the ocean and dress for cold water plunge. shorty surf suit or farmer John style. can find cheaply on Craigslist the ocean is cold and dangerous.

Welcome to the madness!

Without seeing the equinox in person it is hard to give an opinion, but from a cursory look on the costco website the boat looks alright. At 12 feet it may be a little short for the ocean, and the seat looks very uncomfortable.  For the price it isn't that bad of a deal to get you on the water and fishing, although I suspect that you will upgrade soon if you get addicted to the sport.

Sacramento is a great place to start out with your kayak.  I would be careful of the busy main channels.  Good Luck!

I said that it MAY be too short for the ocean.  Most people I know prefer a boat 13 ft or longer for the ocean, because energy tends to translate to forward momentum a little better, and they tend not to weathercock as much.
