Leroy, We launch from the little dock under the 280 overpass on berry street off 7th street. It is about 3 blocks down from the stadium. We paddle out the slough past the houseboats and under the 2 drawbridges. It is a quick 5-10 minute paddle to the cove. I hope to see you and chadrock there.

I have always wanted to do this.  Where do you park?  I have a dodge mega cab and it is huge.

Also what do you do while you are on the water?  do you fish or just listen to the radio?  I'm not sure what i would do with myself out there on a kayak.

thanks,
JimmyD

we usually park on berry street right there under the 280. There are parking meters that take credit cards and cost 6-20 dollars depending on the day. Or you can park on one of the side streets on the other side of 7th for free and either wheel your yak or if we are parked under the freeway,we will watch your yak while you go park. I have a small charcoal weber grill on my yak and so we get down with some serious grilling on the water in the cove.Feel free to  paddle up and throw something on the grill (something that cooks hot and fast). Or we will probably have food to share. We listen to the game on am radio, drink a few brews and talk shit about the dodgers. After eating dinner,we usually throw a few logs on the fire for ambiance. Bring some marshmallows or jiffy-pop for a late inning snack. There is a swanky marina close by where you can use a restroom. There are some interesting urban structures to paddle under and explore or bring a pole and drop a line. You might want to bring a small anchor to tie up and just chill or you can drift around and socialize with the big boats and other kayakers. The best way to listen to the game is a small am radio with an earphone. Don't forget to stay for the fireworks show.

Just be careful about leaving anything in plain view in your car!! That area is notorious for break ins.

the parking under the fwy is pretty well patrolled, well lit and close to the stadium in front of swanky condos and seems very safe. The free parking across 7th st is pretty sketchy.

probably by six at the latest. gives me time to load up and paddle out and anchor up before game time. Also gives the workers a chase to get out of town and free up some parking.
