Ok, some of you bought cameras and are able to post pics on the fishing forum.
Yea!!!  :smt005  Cool  :smt004   We all love pics!  :smt007
So you graduated from the 101 course.  So how about a 200 level course?

Keep the file size less than 250 KB.
I'm looking at the filesize of some of your pics and I am see these
huge numbers like 3200KB, 2800KB.  Scheeeez!  No wonder why it takes eons
to download.  Get in the habit to shrink the size of you pic to something less than 250K.
Sure the pic degrades a bit, but not everyone has blazing fast internet.
There should be some software with your camera that can help you with this, or
use photoshop, or use the free-version of GIMP to cut the size down.

Well said Potto, no matter how big your file is it will only display 640x480 anyways. It is easy with iPhoto but I don't know what you guys use on Windows...

One advantage of using the native resolution of the picture is, if you want to download a picture that someone took of you and your fish with their camera (which is often the case) you can download the picture at the best quality in case want to make prints, crop it etc.

This is a feature I especiallly like about this site since there are so many pictures--eg of Mendo II-- that I would never be able to get myself, unless I wanted to spend the whole time taking pictures and not fishing.  I for one don't mind the download wait time--but I do have DSL.

There are two ways to get the unaltered pics.  Email or burn it to a CD.  These huge files only slow the server down.
The difference between a pic that is <250 K and one that is 1.5Meg is minor IMO.
I don't have a FnD, I like speed over stability.

I totally agree.

I am also annoyed by pictures that are oversized (on other sites).

My rule is 600 pixels wide and ~100k.

I use photoshop.
