Needed to get on the water yesterday to clear my head. Hit Folsom Lake from 3:15-7:30 for some great fishing.

When I arrived I realized, crap it's spring break and all the lake lice are racing around on their seadoo's and ski boats. I decided to head south towards some caution buoys and fish near some rocks. Not long after I hit the area I hooked up the first spot. Nothing big but I love it when your rod goes off al of a sudden.  I kept working the edges of the rocks and the drop offs for a couple of hours and got into some nice spots and smb.

As the lake cleared and te sun started going down I headed towards the landing working the shoreline. All of a sudden my rod almost jumps out of the holder. I grab it and instantly know I have a descent fish on. I'm thinking its a big smb until it errupts out of the water like a silver bullet. A beautiful rainbow that made a couple more acrobatic leaps out of the water. He only ended up going 18.75" but fought like a champ.

I hooked up and landed 1 more smb before heading in. The totals for the day were 9 spots going 16.5, 4 smb going 17", & 1 18.75" rainbow.

While loading I got to talking with these families from Sri Lanka who were hanging out. Great people who helped me load my yak and offered me some of their wine. I gave them a couple spots to take home and enjoy. I always enjoy meeting new people.

Heading back out tomorrow with my nephew to play again.

Great report James. Was that bow a hold over?
My trip on Sat was pretty good too, I miss one monster spot but the rest were lb , lb n 1/2 fish. It was also good action on rip and sinkos once I also got away from the "lice".

FYI, only hatchery steelhead are clipped.  So all other trout will have all their fins.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Solid action there James!  Pretty 'bow.  It's obviously not a "fresh" planter given the full fins and colors.  It's one of two things: either a holdover planter from a couple seasons back, or a truly "wild" fish that was born in one of the Folsom tributaries and migrated to the lake (utilizing a lacustrine life history).  If a planter trout is given adequate food and growing conditions, their fins can regenerate and they'll take on the look of a truly "wild" fish.  Regardless of her origins, she's a beauty!

Nice fishin as usual James. That trout could've come down the river because there are potamodromous fish in Folsom. I know a guy who swears he has witnessed kings spawning in the south fork as far up as Chili Bar...

Is it rude to ask what lure you['re using?
