Getting old sucks. Racked a left elbow tendon 3 weeks ago between work and too much paddling.  At least the swelling is down and its is not painful to the touch.  Down to only a couple of Nsaids a day from 800mg every 4 hours.  It's probably a good thing that I have to work as the EMT at a horse show all weekend or I would probably do something stupid Like try and take the yak out.  I will fish next weekend but fly rod and float tube to minimize elbow strain....a month off the water is killing me. :smt010 :smt013 :smt013

You mean the bright side!  And it leaves both hands free for more important things, like fishing!

Way to make the best out of a crappy situation. Enjoy the water therapy.

Paddling is ok if you are on a small pond or lake.  I've gone to Hobie and it is worth the extra money.  Also they have a good resale value.

Welcome to NCKA old man posting 101 !!
 :smt003

Nursing a naval hernia that is more annoying than lower abdomen hernia that I have had before as well. . Getting up from bed and exerting what are supposed to be my stomach muscles from days gone by is very discomforting.   :smt012

Anywhoo. Hope you all get better and I am sure you consider types of elastic supports or better for the bad joints and tendons.

I am chomping at the bit that I will be ready for the ocean openers here in the Monterey bay !!

heal up Buzzcut1.  i think i've told you somewhere i'm nativeson on mtbr.  cool to see your posts here on ncka.  might have also told you i grew up in livermore too.  rode and fished del valle, shadow cliffs as a kid, never took my yak out there yet though.  gotta get out to del valle and camp n fish n chill sometime (missed the last one).  i've lived closer to the coast now for awhile, good ocean fishing, and a short drive to sc bliss trails.

you should definitely come to one of the big tournaments, pretty amazing.  cool thing is that there's sweet mountain biking near places like shelter cove and albion.  yeah and the hobie's are no joke, listen to these folks.  when you see dudes out there just plowing thru the wind like a hot butter knife and you just have to keep digging.  you probably could get a demo from sunrise?  my uncle lapu lapu lives in livermore too and has an ai.  i've seen him tow two or three yaks back from the red mile buoy off cannery row.

So my wife is off on a trip to TX to see her dad, I'm stuck working a horse show as the EMT with a sore elbow and she sends me a text

"I'm worried about your shoulders and elbows, why don't we buy you a Hobie and sell your Tarpon" :smt007 :smt007 :smt006 :smt006 :smt004

Niiiiiiiiiice!

Wait a minute... if you get the go ahead to buy a Hobie, what's she going to be asking approval to buy?  Smells like a trap, but then again, who cares, you still get your Hobie.  :smt003

Keep in mind, the Hobie is not going to be as easy to get up on the camper roof like your Tarpon is.  You and I have PM'd about possible ways to do it.  I think you even know someone who rigged up some way to get a heavier kayak up there as I recall.  If you get a Hobie, you'll have to come up with a plan.  Mine is my kayak trailer; now two kayaks and a Yakama RocketBox for all our gear.
