I need to make a slurp-gun and learn how to use it, prefferably in Marin. Any ideas, suggestions?

contains reference to:

Can't help with where in Marin, not sure if Bodega Bay is Marin County, but there is reference to finding shrimp while clamming in Bodega Bay.

That plan for a slurp gun is pretty good.

I don't know about NorCal, but in SoCal I used to pump shrimp out of the sand flats of the backs of coves in mission bay at low tide.  Just look for the little "volcano" shapes of sand around a hole and suck out the sand/shrimp with the pump.  I believe they will live in mud flats too.  Low tide is key.  Once you find a field of shrimp you can get your limit (50) in a short period of time.

Bodega Bay is actually in Sonoma County, but you're right it has lots of ghost shrimp.

Thanx Dwest for the info, but Im already almost done with the gun but was wondering more about Marin bay-side spots than the making of the gun.. Ill post a report when I find some close to the sturgie grounds. Sounds more likely in the sand than the mud.
Ill find 'em. Ben

Try inside Bolinas or Tomales Bay. Never tried there, but Bodega is loaded with them, so I don't see why at least Tomales wouldn't have some.

Ben, I've seen lots of shrimp clamming at Tomales (Toms Pt.,Dillon Beach area)I would check Bolinas and the Estero if those are closer to you.

How about all the low tide "mud" near China Camp or even the San Rafael Canal?  Or maybe low tide along Corte Madera Creek?  Let us know how it goes if you give it a try.
