Check your tides.  You don't want to be paddling up slough against an outgoing.  Know from experience.

Thanks, it'll be an incoming tide with high tide at 1440.  I figure if it's too strong I'll just find a cut and anchor up and just try my luck flippen a lure for a bit.

Good luck! I wish I could join you but maybe sometime on the weekends! Look forward to your report. Make sure to have a release anchor if you want to get out for sturgeon. Look forward to your report. PM me if you want to get out sometime since I live next to Grizzly Island.

Not a bad day out, trolled out about 5 miles and hooked a small striper.  Anchored up and caught a couple (16" and 14") striper on shad, and lost a sturgeon (about 7') next to the kayak.  He spit the hook as I rolled him over.  And managed to foul hook a 12" striper trolling on the way back. (With the tide and against the wind, not so fun)

I've never caught a sturgeon in a kayak before, definitely a rush.

Looks nice and flat in that last picture!
Neat that you hooked the sturgeon, would be a challenge to land on the sit inside.

Cheers

The SIT is definitely not the ideal craft for catching sturgeon, I don't think I'd ever plan on catching them in one.  At least not without have more experience.  There were a few times I thought I was going to end up swamped or swimming.
