Any ideas where to camp with the family in April 3rd weekend?  Looking for a lake with fish and Kayak friendly.   Most places open in May.  Any suggestions?

Camanche would be my choice.  You get winter rates and they plant a ton of big trout.  Plus the bass are and will be on the bite.  Might even get some top water action.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

I like Melones. Great trout fishing right now and multiple other species. Campgrounds are very nice at Glory Hole.

Can't help you there, I am usually in my rv, it has it's own shade.

Lake Mendo.

It's at 80sumthin' percent capacity and I heard recently that the crappie bite is goin' off.

In Loving Memory of Mooch, Eelmaster, Shicken, and Cabeza De Martillo

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Thanks, Im considering Mendocino since it looks like it has alot of shade.. I have a baby with me..  Also New Melones.  Since it has fish variation.. But Im not sure about the water and level..  IMO part of camping is scenery.. I hate dried grass and dirt camping, feels like Army bivouacs.

You brave wanting to camp with a baby! If you don't want to haul all that camping gear and you decide on Melones, i recommend Angels Camp RV.

http://www.angelscamprv.com/cabin.pdf

1 room cabin w fire ring outside for roasting mallows.  U  bring sleeping bags, pillow, bathroom stuff, and kitchen utilities.  Showers, clubhouse w TV, and their outdoor kitchen is pretty cool.

No packing a tent etc, plus sleeping on a bed avoid the ground and pound on the ol' back!

$22 (camping) v. $61 (cabin)

located proximal to lake and glory hole store.
