A couple weeks ago I took a decent monkey from a crack where I have taken monkeys and seen wolf eels before.

I showed my buddy Matt from Red Triangle the screenshots from 2014 and 2015 and he threw them together into the cool attached pic.

Seeing the combined pic inspired me to put the footage from the two years together, and threw in some clips from two other nice holes I know that have produced for multiple years in a row.

Anyway, even for hook and line guys I thought you might dig seeing how a single cool feature can produce year after year.

Jim

Great video! I only ate my first monkey face last year. I've seen em of course but a friend told me that were actually pretty tasty if you can just get a grip to fillet them. He was right, weird looking but good eating! Man, you really get into some of those cracks! Nice work and solid catch!

So....in December of 2014 I got a yummy 35 inch Ling from this nice crack I found.

http://doty.norcalkayakanglers.com/catches/1336

You can see the crack in this mini vid:

In March I took Dennis Shu aka Old #7 out and checked the crack and there was a decent Ling in there...I got greedy and wanted to film Dennis diving down and taking the fish and called Nathan sharkbait over to help light it up for him and while we were messing around the Ling left.  :smt012 :smt005 :smt044

I took one last look in the crack to make sure it wasn't just hiding real well, and when I came up I forgot that the top of the boulder was VERY overhung and smashed my head into into it!!

 :smt010

Luckily I have a very hard head, but you can see in the attached pic how nasty the cut was...

On Saturday while hunting for the the T2B2 comp I took a small 18 inch Cab from another hole I know but knew I needed a bigger one if I wanted a chance at winning...

Cruised over to the Ling/Headcut crack and looked inside, hoping for a big cab or Ling...nada.  :smt012

Spent an hour or so hunting in the area and on the way back to the kayak decided to check the crack one more time...much to my pleasant surprise a 20.75 inch cab had moved in!  :smt003

Without that bigger cab I wouldn't have had enough points to win the T2B2 even with the 18 inch cab, 16 inch blue, and 38 inch Ling.  :smt004

Anyway, thought that experience went well with this thread.

Sincerely,

Jim

ps...no real good pics of the cab, but you can see him next to the Ling in the attached pics.  :smt005

Hi Jim thanks for sharing your skills. Next time I go out I need to focus and find some consistent holes!. I find I'm cruising around aimlessly and not methodical enough, leaving it up to luck to stumble across a ling.
