Down in baja. We have all these kayaks with the house we rented. Thinking of locating a pole and tackle tomorrow. Any tips on what to get? No idea what to do here.

Talk to the locals.  Find the bait guys.  See what they are catching and where.  (12-pack may assist in this process).

Go do what they are doing.

Any of the smaller iron stuff will work Kastmasters, Krocs, other spoons, even big spinners.  Try surcasting.  if you run into sierras switch to wire leaders.  Swimbaits.  Tried and true is live bait though, esp for the bigger fish.  Good luck.

Try to get two rods, one light rod for 1/2 oz. to 1 oz. megabait/p-line spooning jig to catch any type of reef fish or lady fish, and one heavier rod with big live bait hook to troll the live bait that you caught on the smaller rod.  Let out plenty of line and troll around.  Here are some videos of a recent trip.

Thanks guys. Found a shop to rent here, and a decent amount of tackle. Wanted to go out today but decided to wait. The wind is absolutely ripping. Hopefully I'll get some good weather at the right time before we move on.

If you're near Cabo Pulmo, dive it, or should I say snorkel the reef.  If you're into a charter, check out the Jenwren (Vista Sea Sports) at Buena Vista.  (Immediately south of Los Barriles)

I wouldnt go too light.  Been rocked too many times in shallow by unknown monsters.

I'm headed down to the east cape in about a week.

I would love to hear that the yellowfin season is starting early. It's hard to find a fishing report this time of year.
