I got three of the PROMAR COLLAPSIBLE oval traps part # TR301
32/20/12 should be here next week

And I designed a new float for my traps that I think will work
It starts with a crab float some pvc pipe

So checkout the pic and let me know what think :smt006

UPDATE 12-29
well here it is this is what I will build their will be three of them for three traps
and will mount on the back of my extreme the rack will be made of PVC and will be painted black and will swivel back and forth. When I am ready to drop a trap I will reach
back and pull a pin that holds the float Assembly then set the float in front of me
then reach back and grab a trap' this will be done when the rack is in the up position

Then I hook a trigger clip to the trap sling holding the line in my left hand and the float in
my right hand  and then I just let the trap drop down as the line comes of the spool-
when the trap hits bottom ‘I’ will pull off more line depending on the swell
and lock off the line then wined the thru the pigtail and then drop the float in the water

To pull the trap it will be pulled up by hand then just let the line drift in the current
And when it is time to pull the trap for good I will squeeze the float between ‘my’ legs and with the hand crank wined the line back on the spool then set the trap on the back
of the kayak & the float back in the rack

The rack and floats will hold the traps when they are folded down and keep them
in place with a bungee cord to hold it all in place

man this is not an easy project but it will be well worth it when it is done
will post pics the day it is finished .

Just my thought.  But if you get some Super Mag Duck Decoys and paint them in a seagull pattern.  You will get less bandits on you traps.
