When I first bought my Hobie PA14, I knew a trailer would be the best way for me to haul, launch and store it, especially when going solo.  It was easy to convert; just swapped out the carpet covered wood bunks with 4" sewer PVC pipe.

But since then, I've garnered more equipment and got my wife a kayak as well.  So what to do in order to haul, launch and store 2 kayaks and the gear?  I came up with an idea.  I got one of those bolt-together lumber racks for a pick up truck off Amazon for about $50 and put on a Yakama RocketBox and another set of PVC pipe bunks!

First evolution of the trailer with just the PA;

Now today with the lumber rack, some parts inverted to flair out instead of in as it would be for a truck, the Yakama box and the 2nd set of bunks with wife's kayak on board;

I've several detailed photos, so if this inspires someone else to outfit using a trailer and would like further detail photos, let me know and I'll post them up.

that's slick. I like the inversion of the tubing, functional plus it gives it real custom look.

Nice Jerry.  What is the original trailer?  It looks like a jet ski or boat trailer.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

The original trailer is a jet ski/PWC trailer.  Some guy bought a second PWC for his girl friend and was selling 2 single trailers in order to get himself a dual PWC trailer.

I was looking for all sorts of ways to make a double decker when I stumbled on a craigslist ad for a truck lumber rack kit.  I knew I couldn't buy the steel tube, let alone bend and powder coat it for under $250 and with just a little research, I found them even cheaper on Amazon.

Today I added some eye bolts to permanently attach my ratcheting tie down straps

Damn you and your inexpensive PVC pipe cradles. This from a guy with $300 cradles.

Nicely done!!! My trailer is already setup with a rack on top to store gear but it about to get a conversion into something more like what you have there.  I'm going to be buying a new 2015 Pro Angler 14 and need to be able to haul it and my 2010 Pro Angler 14 at the same time.  I was thinking about lowering the uprights and then taking off the rail that runs around the top rack.  Then I would simply need to add some "bunks" up there for the second boat to sit on.  I'm hoping mine turns out half as good as yours!

In a perfect world I would simply sell my current trailer and buy a double jet ski trailer so the boats sat side by side.  Unfortunately that's not in the budget considering the cost of the new boat and electronics to outfit it!  :smt003

Sweet setup.if I still have my trailer I would definitely steal some of your ideas.nicely done!
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it
