Going up there in April, any recommendation on good camp site numbers to look for or avoid?

State park is your best bet. The campsite are larger and nice area Kelsey Creek will be good.

I like the first camp loop, I forget its name. It's sometimes open, sometimes not. It's got good shade, it's less used because of being away from the water, and it's quiet. The bathrooms don't get a lot of traffic either.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I think you are referring to the upper and lower bayview, they are not open till May.

Beware of the Raccoons! They will invade your campsite and eat anything, when my brother and I were there it was insane, dozens of ravaging Raccoons getting into everything we had including fishing gear and kayaks, bring a flame thrower or the mini gun from Predator for defense.

+1.  They're about the worst raccoons I've ever encountered.  No fear of man and they'll ransack all of your belongings unless you lock them into a vehicle.  They own that campground.  Bring weapons to defend yourself and your property.

Hum you must not know, that if your camp has food, (or to the animals bait) out you never know what your going to have. You better stay away from an area that has a large Bear population. I spilled a very small bit of chili and missed about a teaspoon. That night up at lake Edison we had a bear visit. And it came back during the day looking for more stuff. But this time there wasn't anything for him. Racoons operate the same way.

They will find a way to bother you, plus look out for giant black widows in the little wooden cubbys in the sites.

I've stayed in 58 or 59 before right on the water, very convenient for catfishing at night.  That was late April and we had nearly the whole place to ourselves, it was awesome.  Went back in late June, stayed in one of the sites around 35 or so, and it was miserable.  Thick mosquitos, crowded, noisy, no fun.  But yeah, should be perfect in April.
