Anybody gold pan. I carry one on my kayak sometimes. Saw this on Shark Tank last night, anybody try it? Looks interesting might make it easier to get to the sand.

Never seen them before, not sure how they work. Prob take a long time to make the separation,  and wouldnt be able to run much. Prob will not work in clay material. I use a sluice or just pans. This might be ok fir areas with water, but not enough to sluice in, and too shallow to pan much. Cant wait for the rivers to drop a bit to get after it.

I carry 10" and  14" steel pans in truck all the time.  Sadly theres no gold in my neck of the woods.
Gold pans have been around for ever!  Time will tell if this new gizmo will work or not.

Nice! The American is one of my favorite spots! Lots of gold, and pretty easy digging by and large.

I was interested when it said it collects 99% of fines,  but where it collects it is basically the same as classifying with a regular bucket classifier into a bucket, just smaller; and you still have to pan. This thing would have me pulling my hair out in no time with wanting to run more material. I would go with a pan, bucket, classifier and 3' sluice before I went with that thing. It would be great for getting kids into prospecting though, that is if you've got a lot of patience and you're willing to do most of the work.

I like to sluice/ pan mainly the American River.  Looks cool, but I'd probably prefer to just sluice instead.  I've got one of these which make's it easy to go on far hikes up the river.  http://www.cabelas.com/product/Angus-MacKirk-Gold-Trap-Sluice-Boxes/1344834.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dsluice%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=sluice&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products

I was thinking the same, if you know an area you can usually find gold and were taking kids, friends, family out who hadn't been gold panning before may work well.

I have panned a couple spots on the Sac river recently, only found one small flake, I know Clear Creek and Cottonwood Creek which both flow into the Sac are popular spots to pan after all this rain might have to get serious and give them a try.

Seems like a lot of plastic and would wear out quicker than the metal mesh classifier.

I watched their video. It's just a nice classifier that all fits neatly into a bucket. You can do the same by just buying screen at the hardware store.

You can pan just about anywhere, but you can have issues if you set up a sluice on someone's claim. At least that's what I've encountered on the Trinity.

I live in Gold Country.  Anyone needing a buddy to join them, give me a shout.  I'm retired and usually able to go any time.  I've got a sluice, classifier and a few pans.  Also a metal detector with the gold finding head.  I have a street legal trail bike, making for easier traveling and camo netting for hiding my rig.  Seems the tweekers are always out looking for parked cars to break into!!
