Off Santa Cruz at South rock , way the heck offshore.  its about a two football field sized pile of granite ledges and caves. Top of the rock is 75' deep bottom is 120'  as I remember we lined up the mile buoy with the middle to left KSCO radio tower and the end of the Santa Cruz warf with a third of the way down the biggest drop of the dipper rollercoaster and dropped anchor.  This was the result for a single 72 cuft tank and about 20 minutes of bottom time.  L-R  Dave Faught, Me, Bill Finstad   circa 1982

Stylin suits and stash! Color of the picture is so 80s, funny how photos from different time periods have different colors. Makes me wonder which is what things really look like? Wish my camera had an 80s setting :) .

I remember diving southrock, lining up the same way!   We dove with a guy named "Wings" who ran small groups out in his Zodiac, this was in like 1982.   First time I dove there my buddy looks at me when we got to the bottom and pulled her regulator out and tossed it.... WTF???  Turns out she had an empty tank and did not check it and ran out as soon as we hit bottom.   Buddy breathing all the way up.

Too bad you didn't have a GoPro back then.....could have had the BeeGees sound track playing in the background of the clip  :smt003

Crazy! Wish I had some pics of diving off Greyhound rock or up by Montara same time period. Sometimes felt a bit spooky out there when viz sucked (most of the time). We used to munch jalapeno canned herring on french bread on the way back to classes, there's a wtf for you, but good times!
