Will a secondhand navionics gold map sd that was packaged with a raymaine, seems to run, on a HDS 7 run on my HB? I find a surprising lack of clear info on the subject. I don't want to be so cheap that I end up with something of no use to me. Any thoughts on secondhand charts in general? Thanks!

I thought they were brand specific do to the operating software in the head unit. Like Apple vs Windows.

Is it on this list?

Yes, but virtually everything is on that list. I want to know if they make different versions for different units.

According to the chart it looks like they don't make "Apple vs IBM" software. The Gold works for different brands, but not for all models or not with the same functionality. I seem to remember they had a support site where you could ask questions. Maybe you can email them.

Navionics Gold All USA & Northern Bahamas - SD/MicroSD-Navionics Gold All USA & Northern Bahamas - SD/MicroSD

Navionics has simple # for it...i opened a package on my desk and it was phone battery not the chip I'm waiting on like our FB message I sent you said today

I think it like 1XG or something call them.....the wording above I copied right from my purchase confirmation

we have just bought the same FF so this is the the same chip you want-- listed in my other response.....they only take that 'one' from my phone talks with navionics...what other FF take that one is not,to me,so important right now..only that my HB 597Ci -HD  does take that 'one' for now---- :smt003

and that one does have ongoing users and factory update technology available -after the first year it costs extra---and it has all current DFW no no zones for the Ca coast

I think it may even have road names and such on areas near the bodies of water....waiting to get it and do set up in simulation mode

I guess I was wrong. When you go to their site it asks what brand you have so I figured there was some type of relevance in that.

If it is an actual Navionics chip, then the main differences will be MicroSD vs SD as far as Raymarine, Lowrance, HB, Simrad & B&G is concerned.  Garmin is .... well, Garmin.  Not sure about Furuno.  Last I checked they were still in the 3.5" floppy drive. :smt002

Now, with that said ... the chips that are sometimes included with the bundles from Raymarine & Lowrance are not a 'true' Navionics chip.  They are Navionics maps but don't carry the same "upgrade" privileges that a true Navionics chip comes with.  I also believe that the Lowrance Navionics chip they include in the 'Gold' package will only work on a Lowrance unit.  Haven't tried it myself in another brand so I cannot verify this.
