Seriously, I just looked it up.  All these years I thought bobcats were the same as lynxes... Nope, same Genus, different Species, with lynxes being much larger and specifically adapted for snow... primary prey being snowshoe hares.  Friggin' cool.

Lynx aren't that big, they weigh 20-30 lbs.  They look bigger because of the heavy coats and extremely large paws that function as snowshoes.  They are tied closely to snowshoe hare populations which dramatically cycle up and down.

Lynx are now listed as Threatened species under the Endangered Species Act.

Yep, no trapping, or hunting them anymore. They are an amazing cat! I liked running them with the dogs over bobcat or lions hands down. I only took mature males, and let the females go. I have a lot of pics of Lynx at home, kind of wish I would have mounted one back when I had the chance.
