Dozen plus warriors showed up, about the same in volunteers, fish were "Lurking" with a few here and there….

Just a good time once again at a very pristine Napa Hill lake… and one of the few in California that is actually full!

Funny how we had a hard time actually slicing into the "Flag" part of the cake, but had too,

just too good…   

What a beautiful day at the lake!  Thank you Don for the great event, Scott for the wonderful food, Duane for the Octopus' chunk, Rob for loaning me the battery, and ScubaLuis for bringing the kayaks.  Fishing was slow,  saw a few fish caught and managed caught 2 myself.  I heard Rob did well but I'll let him chime in.  Here are some pictures of the day...

No kidding. Looks like it did indeed rock!!!

It was a beautiful day. I got to take 3 different veterans out on the water. All 3 seemed to thrive on the experience. The hills were green,the water was flat and the sun was shining. One guy was an ex-combat marine from vietnam. He was particularly grateful for the time on the water. He was kind enough to share some of his more painful combat experiences which still haunt him. There was a lot of pain in his words and he seemed to have trouble breathing when talking about it so i changed the subject and we talked about food. Thanks to Sarges friend Scott for doing a great job in the galley. You gave me the freedom get out on the water. Thanks also to Duane(DG). I greatly appreciate your help packing,prepping and keeping us on the right road. Big props to all the volunteers who were always right there help out and make it happen.

great weather.great food.great people.laneded one LMB which was fine..went on a SAR  with Rider ,found our Marine having mechanical difficulties and got him back to shore safely and fed him well....on the way back in he says"This is awesome ..thanks to all you guys .." for some reason I just teared up, dont know why.. just did...that`s all I`m gonna say,Vk

Thanks VK and Rider…  "RJ" is a great guy and would do well to hang out with us more often… real trooper!!!

Good times.  It was my first time there and loved it. 

I even took a kayak out twice.  I set up a pole and threw some power bait on it and tossed it in at the beginning of the day and checked it at the end of the day.  No fish.  I didn't really put the effort in but had fun pretending. 

Special thanks to Rob, Don and Jack who load their vehicles and trailers to the max at most events.  I can't wait for the right trailer to come along that will hold all the gear and kayaks in one place so you don't have to unload all that at your houses each time.  It was nice seeing how fast they could get loaded and unloaded with a good number of volunteers. 

Raydon you got good people skills.  You really connect with people at a personal level.  Nice to see how you make all feel so comfortable and welcome. 

Also nice meeting so many new faces.  Sorry if I can't remember names very good so hope to see you all on the water.

Great time yesterday and really like the lake even if I was Mr. Skunk.

All you guys are incredibly nice and it's a lot of fun hanging out with you.

Thanks for sharing Don! The pics are awesome. Looks like it was a great event.

Glad that there was enough of help , and that everyone had a good time. Wish I could have been there. Will keep an eye out for the next opportunity.
