There are still spots open in the Cove, Gull and Shell campgrounds. They do have a note on the website stating that the restrooms will be closed but the nearby Jetty and Miwok restroom are open.

Also if people are still looking for spots maybe someone can share a spot. There is overflow parking for extra vehicles (at a cost). Here are some of the rules from the parks site. One states that 8 people max can be at a site. There are also first come first serve spaces.

Rules from the parks website:
-Check in is 2 p.m. Check out is at 12 p.m. Reservations will be held until 12 p.m. the day after scheduled arrival.
-A maximum of eight people are allowed at each camp site.
-Dogs on leash are allowed in most campgrounds with a fee of $2 per dog per night.

Anyone have a clue of the chances crab season will be open for our fest?

I'm not planning on cancelling, plenty of other things to do along the coast and my wife will probably be thrilled to do more than just watch me from the campgrounds.  Ha!

If indeed the season is still closed during our event, I MAY move from the jetty to a more picturesque spot at the campgrounds.

The article in today's CC Times doesn't paint a very rosy picture.  Sounds like it could take many weeks before the crab are free of the toxins.  Crabfest was still great last year, even though the foul weather kept many of us off of the water.

At this time I have no clue what the plan is. The event and potluck will still go on, we can always change the target species as we get closer.

Water temps are returning to normal, which will reduce the algal bloom. Then we just wait for the crabs to cycle it out of their system.
Here's the Bodega buoy for reference. http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=46013

I am not cancelling, as a matter of fact I am going to Doran later today, it is a great place to hang out with friends.
There was only a few people that went crabbing this year anyways, my kayak never came off the top of my truck till I got home.

Sorry to say we can't make it after all.  I already paid $129.50 for the rv site #101 (1/28/16 - 2/1/16).  PM me if you want it, else I'll see if I can get my money back.

We're definitely going, in fact the family and I are quite excited. Crabfest is a wonderful event with or without crabbing. Delayed opening might just result in more abundant crab later. The glass is way more than half full. C-ya there!

We'll be there with, or without crabs! It will be a fun weekend.

I plan to bring a kite or two this year... "Crab Kite Fest"!

This will be the 5th year at Doran Beach. Crab or no crab this will be a great event to start the new year. At this time it looks like spot #98 is open, It would be great if NCKA could grab it to keep it a mostly NCKA section. It also looks like #101 is still open, contact LapuLapu.
