ordered a new FF with gps and wondered if it's worth getting the gold chip too to see MPA's

or just try to mark the MPA's with the technology the FF comes with already

anyone have any place they found the best deal on the navionics gold chip?
Thanks

here is the FF I bought humminbird 597

Hey Craig,

Great price. Only issue is that unit was discontinued by the manufacturer so getting it repaired if you have an issue might be a problem. If you're a Hummingbird fan, I would look at the Helix units for roughly the same price. Or come on over to Lowrance, I heard there could be an awesome group buy this spring on Elite 5 HDI, plus NCKA support team is pretty good.  :smt002

I think there are other advantages to getting a chip. Won't you get better map detail and better topography?

You can still get any humminbird repaired. This particular unit has a larger screen. I have one of these and they are awesome. That's not really answering the question is it Mike?

Personally I don't really need to have the MPLA zones overlaid on the screen. I can get the lat lon #'s from the DFW website and figure it out on the fly. Did you get ahold of Tshombe?

not a traitor ,just liked my

Hmbrd 561 and am keeping the mounts etc...I will get a Lowrance later with more features to0, for my other kayak

that said this one was well reviewed and a good price and may end up saving me money-I fish in a patchwork of MPA's in the Monterey area and drift and wind can put me where I dont want to be quick,

Thanks for those who replied...

I need to reach out to Tshombe still Craig thanks for the reminder...I will try tomorrow to make contact

May not need the chip...I have bought stuff that was not needed a few times or not what I needed in the end..just trying to get feedback from our group
Thanks folks

Hey Craig. here's an install on a Trident 13 with the Platinum USA and Bahamas chart. The graphics are pretty cool. It covers some inland waters in California also.

Nice pics Craig..I am tech challenged and it may be more than I can handle...but I will research the chip more...love the topography ..the unit has some decent stuff loaded into it I think already..maybe I should try it first ,and thensee If I can figure out copying #'s from the DFW site and laying those like marks on my own chip

really frustrating for me to want to be able to do things and not be able to figure it out..guys like Bill and others seem to really take to this stuff.....

it is getting the first time down I struggle on stuff...thanks for the reply

If you do the research. Reach out for assistance from informed people. You can do anything you want to in this world. There is nothing we cannot achieve with diligence and tenacity.

I know putting a card in my 581 gave me more map detail.
