I'm a college student. Keep me posted!

Where are you going to school?  I'm trying to keep track of all of the schools and number of people interested.

Don't know many classmates, but I start looking/asking around.

After reading the tourney rules on their website, all competitions seems to be held in the Southeast with the only saltwater fish allowed basically nonexistent in the waters off the west coast.  Too bad, guess they are under equipped for big fish in cold water.

It's never too late to go back!

I will keep everyone informed.  I have been given the go ahead to start scouting for a place to hold the first event.   If anyone has any input on some good options let me know.  The species is bass (Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spotted).  Kayak friendly is a must.  Large enough to for 30 to 50+ yakers.  Speed restricted isn't necessary, but is a plus.  Centralized location would be ideal.  Those kinds of things will weigh on the final decision.

I don't know much about the Saltwater side, but they have had success on the Freshwater side with Bass Fishing.  That is what I am currently focusing on, but if they want me to start working on the saltwater stuff I'd be more than happy to.

This sounds like a very cool idea!
Here's my alma mater's fishing team: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cal-State-Monterey-Bay-Bass-Team-CSUMB/155760781183675
Although I just noticed you already found em!
I'm going back to college sorta, next fall. But I don't know if I could find 2 more kayak anglers at the Naval Postgraduate School to join me.

Don't forget to check dates of other similar kayak-fishing events. Here's a rough list of NCKA events: http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=61823.0

With saltwater, there's a greater potential for liability issues but less bureaucracy involved (no DFW permits necessary). For the first year though, I think freshwater bass would be a good call.
