Hey guys,

Does anyone know this cart would work ok on a sit-on-top kayak?
(ie Ocean Kayak Scupper or Caper)

http://www.rei.com/product/1195.htm

I searched the forums but didn't find any info.
This past weekend, I saw a guy using this cart for his SIK kayak. $65 seems cheap enough for me to buy as long as it works for a plastic SOT kayak.

Thanks

It looks like it would work fine.  I have a Scupper and use Rolleze with tredded tires and it is fine for all but sand.  That unit looks like the wheels are slighly lower quality than the non sand wheels on the Rolleze (those look solid while Rolleze are pumped up with knobby tires).  If i was to buy one again, I would probbly go with the sand tires instead.  That unit should be fine for parking lots and hard packed dirt etc. maybe not so good for sand.

Those fit on the end of the Kayak so you still have to lift most of the weight kart at the balance works much better IMO
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

wow, thanks for the great replies guys.

99.9% of the time I only need to pull my kayak across parking lots, and the occasional dirt incline
I don't plan on going out in my kayak to the ocean. But if I do, I'll definitely trade up to the Roleez then.

You raised a really good point; one that escaped me.
Yeah, this Washburne Sternwheels cart goes on the end.
Which (cheap) carts would you guys recommend that mount somewhere in the middle.

Although the Caper is light (45lbs) I often throw a bunch of stuff in it (use it as a carrier) between my car and the water. This way I only have to make 1 trip. So it looks like the smart thing to do is buy a yak cart that balances the weight better. Suggestions?

Thanks

I just got my roleez on this past monday, I haven't been able to use it yet....but I will be this weekend even if I don't go fishing.  So if you see someone pulling a white marauder around downtown mountain view go ahead and say hello.
