Back from my family vacation in New Orleans and was able to devote a little computer time to this stuff today.

Bsteves also put in time today and got the AOTY and DOTY 2015 pages up and running, youth divisions added, rules updated, new species added, paypal button updated etc.

THANK YOU Brian!!!!! None of this could happen without your help!!

I went through and activated accounts of people who paid and verified entries that had already been submitted and we've got a little leaderboard action going on already!!

And...notably a new record 26 inch cabzilla!!! Biggest cab ever entered in DOTY or AOTY!! Great job Adam!!!

http://doty.norcalkayakanglers.com/catches/1345

http://doty.norcalkayakanglers.com/leaderboard/list

http://aoty.norcalkayakanglers.com/leaderboard/list

I also cleaned up the sponsors column...if you or anyone you know wants to be an AOTY and/or DOTY sponsor for 2015 please just shoot me a PM. The more prizes the better!!  :smt004

Reminder...please remember that there are TWO steps to getting set up to play AOTY or DOTY:

1. Pay via the PayPal button
2. Create an AOTY and/or DOTY account by clicking "sign up" in right hand corner of AOTY and/or DOTY page

Once you have paid and created your AOTY and/or DOTY account(s) I will activate them and then you are good to go!

If you don't think I've activated your account (name not on leaderboard on AOTY, or fish not showing up on DOTY) I could have just lagged or sometimes I can't tell which payment goes with which username, or sometimes I just make a mistake...just shoot me a PM and I will take care of it.  :smt008

Also, new this year is a Youth Division for both AOTY and DOTY. Kids are free with a paid adult, but still need to create an AOTY and/or DOTY account and will need to show that they are in the Youth Division.

Any questions or concerns, please just let me know.

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

ps...we are working on getting the AOTY and DOTY banners changed to say 2015. Porky has the files at his house and should be able to get them to us tonight or tomorrow.  :smt001

Thanks for all the time and effort you and the crew put into DOTY to make it so successful.  I think 2015 will be an interesting year.

Thanks for putting in the work to get the 2015 sites updated. This REALLY changes my plans for this weekend. I was going to try for an early small mouth bass, but now I'll probably pass on them this year since their points per inch got downgraded. Better to go for spots I guess?

Good luck to everyone this year, seems like we are all excited to get started. This week I'm going to a lake that isn't frozen (hopefully).   :smt013

Word Scotty.  Spots grow larger (and longer per pound) than smallies, so they're the fish to target for AOTY points.  I'm still gonna put in time for a big smallmouth though because I'd love to get the top smallmouth ever entered in AOTY (20 inches).  Just for bragging rights  :smt003.

Good luck this year dude!  Come up this spring for your brown trout  :smt004.

Thanks Big Jim. Mike Mowrey of Ocean Kayak was thinking of entering his sons in the junior division. Maybe I missed it but he wants to know what the age groupings are. Thanks, Craig Mike Mowrey and Adventure Sports donated the Trident angler 13 for 2014 AOTY. Want me to see if they'll do it again?

Hey Chris,

I'm definitely in for a few trips up to your lake. I still haven't gotten into any real lunkers there, but it's always a gorgeous paddle and a lot of fun hanging with everyone. And there's always that possibly of a super tanker!

Good luck this year, can't wait to see the monster trout your going to put up this year!

Scott

Huge Thanks again to Mike and OK for the donation of the T13 for this years AOTY!!!  :smt008

Craig, this year we decided to have the donated Hobie go back to the AOTY since there were some people who were not a fan of having it be awarded via participation raffle in 2014.

This is the way the rules are worded for 2105:

Quote
The winner of AOTY will receive a 2015 Hobie kayak; the winner of DOTY will receive a Jackson kayak; and there will be another kayak TBD that will be awarded via raffle at the 2015 Awards Ceremony.

Each participant in AOTY/DOTY will automatically receive one entry into the raffle once they pay the $40 entry fee. Participants can receive up to 20 additional raffle entries for each species submitted and approved in both AOTY and DOTY. 21 entries into the raffle will be the max that any player can have. The goal of the raffle is to encourage participation and friendly competition amongst those anglers and divers that may not be able to invest the amount of time needed to finish in the top three

Of course, all this is contingent on Hobie being willing to donate another yak for 2015 (will be bugging them as soon as I get my hands on the 2014 prize one...hopefully in the next week or so! :smt002), and JK donating a yak for DOTY (request already submitted).

I know in 2014 that OK/Mike wanted the T13 to go to the AOTY winner and not to be awarded via raffle or to the DOTY winner etc.

Do you think it would be the same this year or ?

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Looks great! I will enjoy following from the sidelines this year. I have a feeling Humboldt county is going to make its presence known in the top of the charts this year! Strong start ladies and gents!
