For fresh water I’ll use a milk crate and maybe an icebox  in the tank well of my Outback to store all my stuff.  But upon doing a search here there seems to be a difference of opinion about using the crate on the ocean.  Some saying they need the crate and others saying it just gets in the way.
The tank well on the Outback isn’t very big so I can see that there may be a problem with room for the fish if a crate is used.  On the other hand maybe a shallow home constructed crate that takes up the entire tank well might make storing the fish and gear easier (unless there is a yardsale!)?

What are the pros /cons/ personal experiences of using a crate in an Outback  or Revo on the ocean?  Gotta get geared up for GS9!

A major pro is you can pack it beforehand w all essentials and then in am when u all groggy headed you just grab n go.

For several years now Ive fished my hobie Adv w a low pro crate used by distributors for stacking 2 liter coke bttls. works good for me. Throw bungee net over top n u straight

I retired my milk crate years ago.  I only use a water tight orange Plano tackle box for all fishing trips and attached 3 rod holders on the back.

I learned to be minimalist and not carry too much gear.  All of my tackle is inside the Plano tackle box and the Hobie gear box in the middle hatch.  I use same tackle box and switch it around on all my kayaks.

I still use a milk crate, I did yard sell lost about $300 in gear a misc .stuff. I gave my wife the bungee that usually hold all my gear to hold open the trailer door.  :smt013 I am looking into getting a tackle bag that hold 4-5 plastic boxes, that should fit perfect in the milk crate, and get a new bungee !!!!  :smt044

I have been using the Plano Box on my Prowler13 for 3 seasons now.  Doesn't hold as much as the milk crate, but like FishingAddict mentioned less stuff is easier to manage.

Thanks!! Guess Amazon isn't the cheapest place  . Both east Marine and Walmart were about 50% less.  Got one ordered  .

You guys bring too much stuff!

I've never brought more tackle than can fit in a Pelican 1060 case for any type of fishing I've ever done.

My Plano box usually stores my lunch and nothing else.

I used to bring a crate, but all that goes in my tank well now is a gunny sack. That is for saltwater fishing.i will bring just a few rigs in baggies and I usually won't even use all of the rigs I bring. For freshwater,  I'll bring one or two tackle trays.
