Madeiros Rec Area (off SR 33): uminrpoved campsites, no water

FYI: there is a water faucet by the launch ramp (in between the ramp and the porta potty) .......I was the designated dishwasher at the last camping trip with Bill and Dan at Madeiros :smt002

Those schoolie stipers are all the same size. I think it is pretty hard to get a photo of a live stiper next to a ruler in a kayak. I vote for competition by weight, dead or alive. I will not be camping, but will arrive around 5AM on Sunday. Just my 2 cents.

But for an adhoc tourney two weeks away, we may want to camp at Madeiros like the fly fishers did. It worked out fine. $10 for the tourney, $10 for parking overnight. Fish on!

I agree.  I would be very surprised to see more than 15 anglers.

Can you post directions to the area that you are speaking of?

so far it is:

Weight: 2
Length: 2

I heard that the water came straight from the porta potty :smt003

Here are a couple of maps that show the areas.

1) non-virtual: since the Forebay is heavily fished, gives Mendo anglers a clear advantage and I'll just head to Mendo then. Sorry Mickfish--but I want to think I have a chance at winning even if I don't win in the end. With Mendo in the tourney, chances for a Forebay fish winning are slim to none.

That's cool I thought the object was to raise money for Chef. Any time you have a virtual Tourney 1 area will have an advantage over the others. Are you going to ban Clear Lake everytime we fish for LMB. I'm just in it to help out our brother, I really don't care about winning. I just can't justify driving 3 hours to the forebay when I can hit Mendo in less than an hour. Your driving to Mendo is the same as I driving to the Forebay. No biggie I will donate even if my fish don't count.  Maybe Mol should set up a pole? Some might want to fish the bay or Delta which have even bigger fish.

Chill people.

This is a money making event for Chef, not our personal pocketbooks.

The forebay certainly has been kicking out better numbers than mendo these days, and has a bigger record fish.

I will post up a poll, but my intention is to raise as much money for Chef as possible within reason.  I would personally say that people fishing at the forebay have the chance at a monster, while the people at mendo are going to face 8# clones the whole time, but that is me.

I will post the poll.

Agreed, this is all for Chef so if you can find a better place w/ bigger fish, good on ya! Weight and length is all the same to me. When we fished paddlefest this year there were mass ties. Someone will get something that's a llittle larger and if not so what. I don't think anyone's gonna get bent either way, it's a MFF!! :hippy2:  :smt003 For progresses' sake I'll side w/ weight.

Sweet, 4 for weight.

Voting on that will close in two days, but beware that I hold dictatorial power over the MFF at this point....

Bill,

I like that idea.  Takes a bit of the luck factor out.

Can you set up the paypal?

As of this moment I am going to be dictator MolBasser and say heaviest 2 fish limit wins the day.

This will give the forebay anglers a chance to compete with the medo anglers.  Mendo kicks out less fish, and the forebay a bit smaller.  If you get two forebay fish, you have an excellent chance to beat a single mendo fish.

Done deal, sealed in stone.

And a note to anglers.

I would personally harvest only one or zero fish, and here is why.

Lets say you are fishing this tournament and you keep your first two keeper stripers.  Great, you have two fish, but you now must paddle for home.  You cannot legally fish for a species if you are in posession of the bag limit of said fish.

If you keep your first keeper and just keep weighing and releasing other keepers you get to keep fishing and virtually culling.

If you release all your fish you get to cull all day.  In actuallity, if you have a scale with you it is most benificial, in terms of tournament fishing, to release all your fish so you can cull all day.

Just a conservation note, but hey, if you want to harvest fish I will be right there for shore lunch.

And as a reminder, we do like to do a fish fry shore lunch after these tourneys......Chuck......
