10-hour war: At Catalina Island, a 13-foot, 1,175-pound mako shark was hooked by two Southern California men and fought for 10 hours into the night. Before it was hooked, the shark bit the propeller of the motor. After being hooked, it jumped an estimated 30 feet into the air at one point. It's the biggest mako in state history and just shy of the world record, but does not qualify for certification because two people, not one, were on the rod. The fish was donated to the Emergency Food Bank in Los Angeles.

Great story but I think a 30ft jump into the air may be a little exagerated.

Nice Pict Allen At first I thougt that was a stretch also ,but I have seen them jump over twice their body length and that fish was 13'
