I'll be heading to the freeloaders (free) launch area. Alt site launch LONG RAVINE (has ramp, not free) Saw trout on top this morning and milky stained water 4' + vis... Going to troll and test my new chirp lowrance elite 5... Hope to catch trout too :smt044 Join me!!! Rain gear a good Idea and water is 53 so plan on cold water gear and SLOW bass :smt005 I'm not often skunked on Rollins so have high hopes. Plan to leave the water by 11:30-12:00 to Christmas shop with Carrie in the afternoon. Come up and play a bit. Bring a camera to capture the Beauty of this lake and learn the good spots before the  Lowrance tourney in the spring... 530-887-8649 till 5 Ron

Any one is welcome, newby, old hat, company is always fun!!! Decided to launch at long ravine ramp about 7:30 (wife wants to come...) brokeback rapalas, dodgers with hoochies all work here. All spring and summer we were catching EVERYTHING on a 1" deep diving baby bass crank bait trolled slow. 6lb test will do the job here with 10lb tops. I am bringing 1 deep fishing rod to drop worms/spoons to DEEP (220ft) fish I see out there on the fish finder... Hooked up once but didn't get it to the kayak :smt010 Might be browns? Kokes? Macks? Cats? (big Blues/channels in there) Gonna try getting one up to look at. Come up I80 to colfax 174 exit. go back over freeway and turn right then right again at the two stops... then travel 3-4 miles till road splits to left... GO STRAIGHT on rollins lake road. 2-3 miles you will see lake on left, keep going .5 miles and enter resort. proceed to ramp. pay as you go in... ($9.25) I will have lures etc if you don't have stuff so no worries... 530-613-0093 cell Ron Come on up!!!

Driving up to Rollins Res. and a mysterious white cabriolet with a kayak on top dropped in behind me on the windy road.  I took a left, but he followed me. I drove to a well lit place with people around and jumped outta my car... Ron said.. "lets go back to that last corner and take a left to the free launch...."

We had the lake pretty much to ourselves under cold overcast and light sprinkles.  An adult bald eagle got up and flew to some other lake when we arrived, and we shudda known it was a sign.. but Ron had these fancy imported secret jig wobbler thingies and the lake was gorgeous (except for being a bit muddy maybe). temp 52.

Short story, we trolled jigs, rapalas, bomber, mepps, fire-tiger, and finally used Ron's new Elite fish finder to drop worms right onto the noses of those little bastards ...and words popped up on the screen..."Fish are snickering...."

Thanks for the introduction to a great place!

I usually keep the "Snickering Fish" function turned off on my fish finder.  The constant loud audio tends to run down the battery too fast.  :smt044 :smt044
"Pedo Viejo" is what Antonio called me.

My battery did in fact go dead... still saw fish hitting surface as we were leaving. Should have brought my fly rod. Great time regardless as i got to meet a new bud and play on the water.  :smt001
