I am not an official HOW guy but have helped at a couple events.  I put a HOW sticker on my banks board and had my wife's friend sew a HOW patch on my hat.  I have been advocating for them and hope to spread the word on how much this organization helps.  Can't wait for the weather to change and more HOW events to be scheduled so I can help out again. 

We need a closer place.  That was a 7 hour drive for me and with my trailer it was a couple hundred in gas. 

Hey Guys, I am hoping for another hennesy or berryessa event too. Tomales bay would be sweet also. Hope you guys are having a happy holiday season. I am stressing out about what to get my wife for xmas. Everytime i ask her what she wants, she quietly says oh nothing.

We had talked about a winter HOW event at quarry lakes in the past. It has a large covered gazebo and a wheelchair access fishing dock.

Believe me, the train never stops around here when it comes to Nor Cal HOW…

After the last 5 years of doing this and having to cancel events due to severe rain storms, to which we have had three, we decided to just shut things down through December and first part of January…  I tell ya, it's actually more work to cancel an event as to start one, and has cost us money, so sorry not to inform all of ya about putting it on the shelf during this time.

We are looking into a Hennessy event for late January early February with Pathways, and will probably hit San Pablo Dam after that with the VA…

Quarry lakes has great facilities, but it made me real nervous being so far from the water and not being able to keep tract of vets…

Del Val is another option that we have not done in a while and we get a ton of support from Sunrise as well as the park system, so it would be good to remind them were here, maybe a camp over?

Someone usually steps up last second to give us space at a ISE booth but I have not been contacted yet, keep ya posted…

 Redding appears to be getting into gear too and will be operating under our chapter so keep your eye on that as they could use our support…

Other than that, were loaded for bear for 2015   


On a sign of the times note,  as far as our social media and maybe here too, not sure yet….  We going to have to have all participants and volunteers contact us directly about where our events are going to be and when. Again, I'm not sure we need to do that here, but definitely for our Facebook page….

Our Veterans are targets for these nut jobs and England and Australia HOW have had some problems along with suspicious activity and had to go to not publicizing events.  It looks like we are going to follow suit…
 
I'm all in favor of those with concealed weapon permits and such… to Bring em…

Facebook has not been the major way we get to vets, it would be nice as a way to direct them as an easy way to get in touch, but mostly, I direct them to ncka as this is where we get things done.

I guess we just continue that practice as I don't see jackass terrorist looking for vets on a kayakfiishing site...
