Raining but not real hard right now in Walnut Creek. Almost no traffic on 680 North through the trivalley this morning. Fairly quiet day at work. I heard Sonoma got hit the hardest so far.

Steady heavy rain in Danville the past 3 or 4 hours but so far so good.  Just checked the sump pump and there's no water under the house.  The gutters are carrying it to the street and down the storm drain.  We had a reverse 911 warning call this morning about 9 but there's no sign of any flooding.  Looks like the North Bay is getting most of it.

Here's the USGS site to monitor river levels: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ca/nwis/current/?type=flow
It looks like the Navarro and Gualala are getting hit pretty hard.

Close call here in Cotati this morning. Woke up early and raced to work only to find the road in the business park already had the closed signs up. Parked near OPS and waded into work. Changed into my kayak gear and began sand bagging all the roll up doors and glass doors to the office. We keep a pallet of sandbags and a roll of plastic in the pallet racks for just these occasions.

Patrick and I put what we could up even higher than normal. Luckily the water only got within 20' of the office doors but the occasional big ass truck would cause a wave to almost reach the front doors. One little Honda car didn't fare so well ....it was up to his door knobs. About 10;30 the water started to recede and now the street is clear. The flood canal behind the building had risen to the fence line at one point and almost breached into the rear parking lot. I did manage a picture but this was after the water backed off quite a bit..

It's still raining so we'll have to see what happens as the Russian River and the Estero do to us locally when all that backs up in the next 24 hours.

I was looking back to the last time we almost flooded and I would say the water came a good ten feet closer to the office this year.
Here is a video from 2010 ....just for fun.

In the Santa Cruz mountains, the prediction was for wind gusts up to 55mph. We've got big redwoods and douglas firs all around our house, and winds anywhere close to those levels would almost certainly be devastating. My wife reports that in reality, nothing much happened---just some rain. Of course, our electricity is out, but that seems to happen about as often as a PGE employee farts.
