I seem to think that someone here has family law experience.  I am filling out marriage dissolution forms and am wondering if I can ask a few questions to those who know whats up.

PM me if you can offer a word of advice

First of all, I'm sorry to hear that, we've never met but that makes no difference, no matter what the circumstances are it sucks. Even more so if Kids are involved, no matter what their age.

First thing, you need good legal advice, no matter how amicable it seems at the moment you need good legal advice, not to fight, but just to make sure all the bases are covered, and that if things do go sour you have protected yourself

Did I say you need good legal advice,

I went thru a long and contentious divorce, with 2 kids, and during the dark days if someone had told me how well things would turn out in the end I would have thought they were crazy.

I'm not in the legal field but if you have a question PM me and I'll be glad to tell you how my experience was and what I learned.

Good Luck

Unless the wheels have fallen off and it's beyond repair,"it's cheaper to keep her".
Look deeply and decide if it might be worth saving, if not use a mediator and don't get separate lawyers that will just cost you both all your money, and you still have to come to an agreement anyway...
so be civil to each other and work it out with a mediator,WAY better$$$ and fair... Just a tip...
Respond to life as if it is the first day of your life and the last day of your life.

My dad told me...."Son, if you woulda just off'd the bitch the first time ya thought about it, well, you would be out of jail by now! But since you have had time to think about it, they will give you the needle. Get a lawyer!"

My dad is available for consultation.......... :smt006

Arrrg... Folks! Jim, so sorry it took so long for you to make this decision. I know how hard it is for you. Mediation is probably the best way to start out. Amicable is always best but if it get's dark... F$@3 the cost and fight for Henry. You have been so awesome up till this point. If Chris will work with you fairly on this it is best. Once it is all done you can spazzz out but for now, talk with her about mediation. You love Henry, he loves Momma, you will always be tied together. Keep it civil and work it out. You both are good people. Henry needs you both. You need someone too. As long as you both keep it cool Henry wins! I don't speak from personal experience, but watching my son go threw this last year and not turning it into a battle but as a best for both of us end, worked... No kids involved but I hope she can see to calm separation and resolution. If lawyers get involved, all loose, and they go to the Bahamas to celebrate when It is over... good luck Bro. Let us know if you need anything.. Ron & Carrie
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Oh, and on a serious empathetic note.  Sorry for the troubles.  Keep your chin up you are a good man.  One foot in front of the other gets you there.
