Now Eric. I want you to read the seventh post on that thread.

Yeah and then there is Freddie's (AKA savage) post saying HE was cold. Which reminds me of the Gimmie Shelter when it was raining. Bottom line is that wet suits suck n the rain. Paddle or dry suit with fleece under and you are good to go.

The first time I ever used my Kokatat Super Nova was at GS5? I think that was it. I was warm and dry all day. On the radio people were complaining of being cold and wet and heading in. I fished right up to the end. It was wonderful.

I saw Freddie  that day also. Fishing in shorts again with a light jacket. He was hypothermic when I saw him.

Dress for the weather and the water and enjoy your day. Whatever that looks like.

There is nothing dangerous about Kayak Fishing in the rain...except the lightning  :smt044 :smt044 :smt044. You will need to take the same precautions as you would on any other fishing day. Make good judgements regarding wind and swell, but i've had my most memorable experiences fishing in the rain, when all the boaters thought that I was NUTS.

If you can push out the cold and wet feeling and just be in the moment. , there really isn't any other
feeling like it. I caught my last sea bass of 2012 in the rain. I doesn't get any better than that.

On the ocean check out how fast the clouds are moving.  Even without thunderstorms a rapidly moving frontal system can produce minor gust fronts which can suddenly give you a 180 degree wind shift and strong gusts. In rivers there is nothing better than a light steady rain to make fish feel safe and help you approach and cast without spooking them.
