That sounds like fun, I will try to spear fish and if there is no luck ( or skill ) I will bring an air tank and scuba gear to get them bastards.
Even if the weather is shitty, I will be there to support you.

Good idea Luis. Maybe I'll bring my scuba gear too.

If the ocean isn't too gnarly, I'll bring some light gear for perch.  How's the crabbing down there?  Is it worth bringing rings?

Crabbing  close in is spotty.  If you go out to 150 to  200 feet, you'll get some decent sized dungies.   You probably don't want to take more than two pots with you,  It's a long pull. :smt010

Sorry Jim!  Just my opinion!  I do applaud your efforts!  But I'm not going to day trip up to TC, which means camping, which means at least $100 (usually more) in food, gas and lodging.  So if RF was open at least I could go up and fish.  But as it stands, targeting perch by kayak is not my game.  But it is a good idea for those wishing to get an Ocean fish for AOTY to go for it!  And it's likely going to be a great diving hookup too!  I hope you guys have an awesome time and take lots of pics!

My bad Al. I need to not take this stuff personal cuz I know there is no way to make everyone happy...which sucks because that's exactly what I want to do.

 :smt005

Yeah, what's a longer drive for us is a shorter drive for other folks though....and in terms of nothing to do, well I honestly feel the Sonoma coast has a LOT to do for anyone (kayaking, fishing, diving, mushroom hunting, beach chilling, etc), and yeah it may be crowded but it will be off season so would be surprised if there was anyone there but us...and crowded with us is different than crowded with other folks.   :smt004

FWIW, I'll be day tripping it...otherwise I would throw in on an AHull party bus....you should just get a DD and use Andy's ManVan.  :smt002

 :smt006

Sincerely

Jim

Anchor bay is open year round. There is no comparing TC's beach to Anchor Bays beach not to mention bathrooms and everything else.

But if it's at TC I will still show up to support it.

Thanks for all you hard work Jim

Thanks James.

30-40 minutes further away for Bay Area folks though right? So an extra hour at least of driving for those that are day tripping?

Honestly, all we need is a spot that we can take over and do what we want without needing a permit or having to worry about rules etc. and at a location that won't deter people who want to day trip from driving there and back.

I day trip to the Sonoma coast from Santa Cruz county all the time...but some might say I'm nuts.  :smt002

Sincerely,

Jim

I didn't do AOTY/DOTY but I`m going..I want to meet a lot of you , bring a rod or two maybe my poke pole and chill...

There is still time to get in the AOTY raffle, just pay the $40.00 and take pictures of fish that you get in the next 28 days and get your entries in.
all i have entered are 2 fish so far, but all you need is 1 ticket to win a new Revo Kayak and the money goes to a great cause.
