I fish out of an Outback.  When retrieving I have a tough time plugging the wheels back into the scupper holes without dumping all my gear out of the boat by turning it on it's side.  There's really nothing to hold onto to in order to lift it up from the side to insert the wheel set.  Any ideas or am I looking for an answer that doesn't exist.

i installed 2 extra straps one behind the seat and one right above the middle storage net in front of me. Gives me way better leverage. Held down by those tri-rivets, holds up great

Plug the wheels in when you are in about 3' water, take them off the same way. When unloading from a car roof, I plug them in when the bow is on the roof and the stern is on the ground.

Very simple solution, sell the plug in cart and buy a wheeleez cart
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Simple solutions.  Thanks for all the help.  I don't know why I didn't think of it.

I bring my outback to around 2-3 feet of water. I slide my plug in wheel underneath, parallel to the yak with the wheel facing the rudder. I squat down and guide one of the plug pole closest to me until I can see it in the scupper hole. Then holding the plug pole with one hand and pushing the wheels down, the pole slides into the supper hole which drags the yak backwards.  The other plug pole slides right in. Once the poles are in I let the buoyancy of the wheels push the pole all the way in. Takes practice but easy once you get the feel for it. Takes me 2 minutes.

It's easier to do that with the hard wheels, than the balloon style.  Balloon style wheels have a ton of flotation so they're more difficult to plug in while in the water.

+2, I have an Outback and just bought wheeleez, should not have waited so long...
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

I use wheeleez for soft sand, trail portage and  surf launch. I use the plug in for ramp or hard pack launch. 75% of the time I use the plug in because it is faster and easier. I have launched and forgot to take out my plug in cart. Pretty easy to lean back and pop the cart out OTW in case you have a senior moment.  :smt005
