First rigging post, so do excuse some of the rookie work. I started out with a Tarpon 130T as this is my son and I's first Kayak. Here are the mods we have done over the last few months:

1. Made a tapered fishing crate for the back tank well. Added 4 rod holders out of pvc.
2. My wife made 2 seat cushions.
3. We purchased new hatch covers and although they look the same, the new ones are much thicker rubber and have a much tighter fit.
4. Added yakattack rails on the front and passenger sides. We used the smaller ones with the backing plate, and even used the rigging bullets. Worked great and they are solid.
5. Installed a Lowrance 4X HDI Fish Finder. Major notes on this:
A. We routed both transducer and battery wires through the top with a Hobie through hull wiring kit. It worked very well.
B. We used the through hull transducer wet mount with a foam block outline gooped down. We did not goop down the actual transducer after talking to Bill here.  We added a foam pad that goes over the top with Velcro to keep it on.
C. For the battery, I found a small 9AH 12V battery, and gooped down a small foam block to hold it inside the hatch. The battery will go in a dry bag. We added marine connectors to make it easy to take on/off.

Many thanks to Bill and several others for the advice and encouragement. Also props to headwater kayak in Lodi for helping us with parts. Next up are a few rod holders (already ordered) and we are set until we get a new tandem soon :-)

Thanks guys. Feeling pretty good. Maiden voyage with fish finder installed will be on Thanksgiving day. I will remember to put my drain plug in this time  :smt044
