When fishing for Stripers on the Sac in a kayak what are the best techniques that you use?  I have heard of jigging and bait fishing.

Storm shad, sebile shad,  bucktails white or chartreuse,  chrome rattle traps.... live bait my favorite is bullheads. Good luck. Napa river has been producing good numbers as of lately. Good luck.

I like fishing on the anchor with bullheads, dead or alive, if they're alive every once in awhile I'll pull in a bit of line because I once heard a successful striper fisherman say they will hide in the mud so every once in awhile he'd pull his line and that gets them out and moving.

Trolling a broken back rebel with a worm trailer has always been good to me.. Plus it's fun to cover some water.

I've been hitting up the Napa river about once a week for the past 8 weeks or so with great success.  My biggest so far was a 32" striper pulled in casting a Rat-L-Trap.  I've had great success plugging with Traps and throwing swim baits.  I've been able to pull in several keeper size fish every outting, mostly C/R but take the occasional striper home.

Don't waste your money on live bait for striper. Rattle traps, swimbaits, yozuris/ Rebel/Rapalla with worm trailers will all work.

Nice ! I was out there for a few hours yesterday morning to test out new electronics and the fish are definitely there. Nothing as big as that beauty you caught, but I did CnR a few solid keepers. Everything was on trolled RatLTraps or Big Hammers. Nice to know there are some more kayakers out on the river.

I got out on Tuesday in my buddies bass boat.  We launched out of Sherman Lake and headed just out of the boat launch.  Fishing was pretty good.  Casting Traps and jerk baits produced some quality fish.  Most of the stripers were holding in 4-8ft of water and holding tight to the weeds.  The biggest pulled in was a 10lb.  we had 3 more in the 6-8lb range.  If the weather holds up, I'm hoping to get the Yak out on the Napa River again on Monday or Tuesday between rain storms.  I'll keep you guys posted on the bite!

Quick question ... now that that rains have started and the flows are up and the rivers are starting to muddy a little, how does that impact striper fishing ? Change tactics, look for different structure features, etc. I was thinking of hitting the Napa later this week and giving it a go in between storms.

I tried going out on Monday morning before the big storm hit.  The wind was horrific and waters were choppy.  As far as changing tactics, reports for the Napa River stated, River is muddy with the recent rainfall, fish are being caught mid river with live bait.  According to the report from Sweeney's a 30lb was landed on live bullhead.  Now from my experience I would still prefer casting and plugging lures vs. soaking bait.  Stripers have amazing lateral lines and can hone in on pretty much any bait even in murky waters.  Just my opinion.  I'm hoping to get out sometime from sunday-tuesday this next week.  Setting up a new ff on my yak and can't wait to test it out!
