What to do when a seal does this?

So, what says you? I would think a good bonk on the nose would be ok if it ever got to that point. And being more aggressive too. Hopefully it wouldnt  just piss him off, we are pretty outmatched on the water.

I've pushed them away gently a few times and one time at SWS I had a big seal dislike the gentle push with the paddle so it nibbled my paddle blade and i lightly bonked its nose.  Then it stopped approaching but tailed me for the rest for the day and I didnt catch a single fish afterwards.

A big mammal with sharp teeth that shows some signs of possible illness jumping around on my conveyance. Hell no. I stand my ground, bonk the fool and make it hurt.

Actually, I'd do my best to discourage him from that sort of behavior.  Sooner or later, it will turn aggressive and someone is gonna get hurt.  I'd probably take my gaff and back hand him with it. 

I had one in Monterey jump on mine, I smacked him/her (dont wanna be sexist) with the paddle. It did it again, so I got a good swing the second time, like an overhead chop swing, and chipped a chunk off the end of the paddle! Seal left.

hope they don't use that as an excuse to close that fishing hole down, because that's the seals domain.

I would have done just the same as the guy on the vid:  Feed him or her and enjoy the experience.  That's why I go out there.....for adventure and experience.  They'll remember this moment for ever--or at least I would.

You are just teaching it to become aggressive, endangering other kayakers and the seal.  THat's a high price to make others pay for your own amusement.
