They were up on a cliff with a spotting scope.  They came down on these guys who got ticket after Ab diving.
They left me and my buddy alone.  We were merely kayak fishing.

With AB diving, I would GoPro myself going through all the legal steps and submit to the the courts if
I got ticketed. DFG are super tight on the abalone regs.

?????

I believe he's playing off a separate thread.

If so it's funny......they look pretty white to me though.
The pic is too blurry to tell.

If you don't high grade, don't take undersized abs, don't pop abs for your buddy, and just pop your three and tag them as soon as you get to beach you really shouldn't have any problems...

If you do break any of the above rules then you really have no one to blame for a ticket but yourself...

Filling out the card can be a PITA, but it's not rocket science and once it's done it's done, then you can walk to your car and get a cold drink and relax.

Just my 2 cents...

Jim

That says it all.

If you can't follow the simple rules you deserve a ticket and some shame.

I got my 3 on Sun, hit the beach, filled out card, went to car. Pretty simple.

Definitely agree with all the comments. Dive for your own abalone and fill out your card right after you get to shore!

They really made sure they filled up everything and double checking it.  As soon as they were going back out with their spearguns you can see the DFG was rushing down and going to their direction.  When they came back to the parking one of the divers told us they did not put the tags.

The red headed guy is my friend from Petaluma. Great guy. Just trying to do his job. He cant even use personal discretion he told me anymore. The higher ups want it enforced really hard. To the letter.

That is correct for the most part, but you can get ticketed if you don't happen to carry some scissors to cut the tags, cause they tear off and you better have something to attach the tag to the shell.  I'm just saying if you don't have a sharp knife or scissors and a zip tie, string, or fishing line, it will he nearly impossible to attach the tag in a sufficient manner to pass a strict warden.  The old punch cards were much easier to deal with.
