Boiled our catch Sunday night & the leftover legs put in the refrigerator last night.  We munched out at work today and STILL have leftover legs.  Will these keep refrigerated for another day or two?

Thanks!

No.

Drop them off at my office ASAP and I will make sure they are disposed of correctly.

 :smt002

Just kidding...I got crab coming out the wazoo!

 :smt005

I would think a day or two the fridge once cooked is no big deal...I know I've eaten blue crabs in NOLA several days after boiling and they were fine...

Jim

if it is only you and yours eating it..then take the shells and knuckles  dish and do a u turn at the trash can...put it in a few cups of water and boil it a few times removing any foam...drain it through a spaghetti strainer and use the crab juice to begin a ciopinno base...then ad tomato and some chopped veggy.. a crab gutted...and some nice ling cod and rock cod chunks..and some scallops and ?and ?and?

the shells were piling up lat night with meat still hidden so I boiled it and saved the base  :smt003 :smt003 :smt003

OUCH!!!

 :smt005

We had three people over last night gorging themselves...fed eduardo, gave him a full limit to take home, gave away three others, and still have a bunch left...will stoke out a few more friends tonight.  :smt004

I'm sure it will keep a few more days, fresh anything is always best.  :smt007

I kept cooked crabs on ice for 5 days and they're still fresh!

Ditto.. They freeze just fine; clean and freeze.  I put mine in cleaned wax cardboard milk cartons, fill with water and freeze them solid.

I think cooked crab is good for 3 days. By day 4, it can be hit or miss. On day one I pick the meat from 3-4 crabs, enough to get 1 pound of meat. Gently pat dry on paper towels and vacuum pack then freeze. It last for about 1-2 months pretty well for crab cakes, enchiladas, omletes etc. You can clean and freeze crabs split in half then vacuum packed but the sharp points on the shells tend to puncture the bag. I have never frozen in water.

The flavor goes downhill very quickly. They are fantastic on day one and good on day two but by day three it tastes like what we get in a restaurant. Still good for crab cakes at the end which is what we do on those rare occasions where it makes it past day 3.

I packed the leftovers on ice Monday afternoon (in a closed container with ice around it) and gave it to a Lowrance rep on Tuesday.  He tossed it in a spaghetti Tuesday night & still had some of that as leftovers for dinner Wed's night.  Amazing how far 12 crabs can go!
