I finally got a chance to check out some generic Dramamine I got from Wal-Mart. It's their brand (Equate) and you get 100 pills for less than the price of a dozen Dramamine. Same active ingredient and same dose.

They work just as good as Dramamine. They do still make you sleepy, but not quite as bad as the name brand.

Just thought I'd pass that on to those of us that still use Dramamine.  :smt008

yeah I have found the store brands work better (less side effects) then the brand name and the lower cost is a bonus!

Even though it's OTC they keep it behind the counter at Walmart.
Meclazine, travel sickness pills.
I think I got about a bajillon for $3.99.
Small, chewable, tasty.
Works for me and my day is ruined if I do a somersault.

It was on the news (CNN I think) some time ago where they surveyed actual doctors and pharmacists which they prefer and buy. Majority of them choose generic medications over name brands.

This is interesting to me. I had been using the store brands no problem, then switched over to name brand and the stuff zonks me out so badly that I cant safely drive home without pulling over and sleeping. It sucks! I thought I had become aware of some sensitivity, now I'm getting off the "hard stuff".

That's the beauty of Scopace. You won't get motion sickness or drowsy.

Dramamine is harder on my body than Bonine. I used to take one Bonine on the first day of my long range trip and would be good for the duration. Past several years, I haven't taken anything at all and the ride was sometimes anything but FAC.

They dont make scopace anymore, a lot of the guys i know are using promethazine 25mg.  You need a doctors order to have them prescribed.  its not a OTC one you can just pick up.  Just my 2 cents

Dramamine works really well for me. Tried going out without it and I chummed TC. And yes it makes me really sleepy after a half day paddle.  So much so that I now have to counteract it with a drink of the 5hr energy drink as soon as I get off the water.
Thanks for intel Dustin. :smt003

You can still have them made by a compounding pharmacy (just call around for a compound pharmacy). My local Walgreen pharmacy can make it for me. They basically just order the ingredients and make them there (capsule form). I've tried Dramamine and Bonine, but nothing beats Scopace.

I've got some you can try; bought kaiser out before they stopped making them and vacuum seal them up...
