That's right, Stripers!  Lake Mendocino hasn't been actively stocked with Striped Bass in years but the population is still alive and kicking.  I've hooked into 3 in the last month ranging from 7.6 to 10.2 pounds and I know bigger ones are in there.  That lunker 30+ has to be hiding somewhere....

That's great news... and a great picture. I couldn't tell by the picture if the lake level was low or not... also, did you hook into any smallies... I used to love fishing that lake.

TONS of smallies!!  The smallmouth fishery in Lake Mendocino is amazing.  Not just a lot of them, but some REALLY big ones.

There is no longer any striper stocking at Lake Mendo and never will be again due to the permit process. Please practice Catch and Release and save the remaining few for the future. Great to see some people catching them still. Thanks

Nice fish man! Never caught a striper but its on the list for this year...have to travel tho.  Not a lot of striper action in Humboldt.
