I'm going to fish Dux sat. with my son Paul. This will be our first launch at Bolinas bay. Is this our best location to launch for fishing dux? Hope to see other kayakers,so not to suffer from "the only fools" syndrome.

There will be a south swell tomorrow which means there will be lots of surfers, and the surf could be big. They are far apart though, so some patience might be good. I think the safest way is to go towards the patch from Brighton road--that's to the right (north). The more you go that direction the more it's protected. Surfers call the rocky area up there "the patch" and just south of it should be a calm area where surfers are not. By protected I mean from the north, tomorrow the swells are the south and the north.

If there's a south swell of any size Bolinas can get tricky It's not the launching it's the landing

The break can spread out all the way across the mouth and especially if there's an outgoing it can get pretty wicked but you can usually find a tame spot on the Bolinas side

Yes we trolled (peddled) for 4 hrs. for dada. The GPS said we did 10. 5 miles-my legs feel like we did 40 .We launched directly under the light house at bolinas bay inlet. The launch and return went smooth, just wish the fishing was as successful. We used 2-1/2 led with flashers and watermelon apex and FBR'S to various depths. We trolled north and south of the green can-The fleet got a kick out of seeing our little Tuperware brigade. We didn't see any nets flying. We plan to go once more before season ends. If anyone else is interested let me know in Hook-ups. Wow! what a long beautiful drive to Bolinas-It's been 15 years since I visited Bolinas.-- Zero Emissions- Zero Fish- Loads of memories Fishing with my son.

My buddy got one sunday. Four guys in the boat. He was the only one that even got a strike. Outside the can and north a little. 95 feet deep, 96 pulls trolling with a 3lb ball. 28lbs.
