Congratulations ScottyMB exciting report I do like Spike's smart new rule.

The New Tournament Rule...that "sponsored" anglers (people who get free, kayaks, gear, expenses, travel $, etc to compete at kayak fishing events against anglers who shouldn't be losing big prizes to "professionals" IMHO)....can compete for place only at the Fall Classic AND those prizes will be passed on to the next placing non-industry angler....was well received.

So... because I am a Prostaff for Tepui Tents, I wont be eligible to win prizes? that sucks!

For what it's worth, I want to compete against the best.  If the sponsored guys can't win prizes they may not participate.  I don't just want to win, I want to beat guys like RacinRob, ATD and Salty.  I realize that many on the forum are just into it for recreation and not serious competitors but there are plenty of fish and chill hookups.  I'm not looking for participation prizes.  Let's reward the best and work hard at being the best!

FYI - I commented that I liked Spike's move, not because I want to penalize sponsored or pro staff people but because I am looking for an adjustment to the event scene (for GS, obviously).  I am interested in bringing up the level of legitimacy - not that it's lacking, but, like I pointed out last year, I think it has become too easy to cheat in our current systems.  I tried to put in the video standard for releases, and guess who bitched about it really loud and whiny?  I don't remember criticizing or bitching really loud and mean when others made their decisions for their events.  Whatever I decide for GS, it'll be based on what I feel is best for the event and the community, and I don't care to be treated like shit by being threatened and chastised - but I guess I should be used to it by now especially from a "certain someone" on here who likes to get really pissy and mean and inappropriate over and over.

So I commented "I like it" because I like how a change was instituted.  I don't plan to copy that particular change, but I do intend to change things up in some way.  Remember when it was suggested that the format of AOTY change?  There are some people on here who act like bullies and babies at the same time.  It gets old.

I don't think being " sponsored" gives much of a competitive edge . What does make a difference is the time one can be on the water. There are members here who are lucky to get a few weekends in per year and others who can fish 60 days plus. Experience is a big advantage in learning and perfecting the how to do it as well as figure out the best lure patterns for fish species.
