I want to let you all know that in addition to the Hobie Revo 13 that will be given to the "2014 AOTY/DOTY participation raffle" winner, we have also received a VERY generous donation of a lightly used demo FeelFree Moken 14 from California Canoe & Kayak!!!

Huge thanks to Rider for reaching out and making this donation possible!!  :smt008

Since we only have one of these kayaks and will have two champs (AOTY and DOTY), what Rider and I have agreed on is that we will have the two winners each draw a card at the Awards Ceremony...and highest card gets the yak!!  :smt004

As of right now...insearchoffish and IceColdChuck are in first place for AOTY and DOTY, respectively, but there is still plenty of time left for lead changes!!  :smt003

Thank you once again to CCK and to Rider for helping get this great prize for AOTY/DOTY!!

Sincerely,

Jim

ps...if you know of shops, companies etc that you think would be interested in donating prizes and supporting AOTY/DOTY now or in the future please just let me know! The more prizes we can get the better IMO!!  :smt004

I want to thank Jeff and Keith for stepping up with this generous donation.

I have been paddling the Moken for awhile now and have taken it out on some not so ideal conditions and felt stable and safe in this yak. I have launched it through some tough surf conditions and the Moken handled the surf without any issues popping right over 4'+ breakers. I also did my first dive from a yak on this and there was plenty of room for my gear and it was easy to get off and on while OTW.

I was excited to be able to tell BigJim that we had another yak for the AOTY/DOTY winners. Now I'm gonna have to do some serious upgrading to be able to have a chance to take this yak home.

Wish the FAOTY could get great prizes like that.  Maybe next year, it would probably pull in more competition.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Thanks again James!!

I really appreciate you reaching out, and doing the legwork to make this happen!!  :smt008

Looks like a great yak for fishing and diving and I am sure whoever gets it will be super stoked on it!  :smt007

I have added on CCK's logo and link to the AOTY and DOTY sponsors column...thank you Jeff, Keith and CCK!!!!!

The amount and quality of sponsors we have for both AOTY and DOTY is very impressive, and my hope is to keep this list growing next year and in the future:

Kayak Connection
Amadeo Bachar
Headwaters
YakAttack
Hobie
Kokatat
California Canoe & Kayak
Freedive Shop
Austin's Diving Center
Pacific Nalu Dive Co.
Neptonic Systems
GoBro Grips

http://doty.norcalkayakanglers.com/leaderboard/list

http://aoty.norcalkayakanglers.com/leaderboard/list

Besides all the great prizes donated by the above sponsors (will definitely be enough prizes for AT LEAST the top three in both AOTY and DOTY), the Hobie Revo13 going to the "participation raffle winner", the Moken 14 donated by CCK going to either the AOTY or DOTY champ, we will also have Piscean Plaques for the the top three in both AOTY and DOTY and for the AOTY Sail Leader Board Champ, and "BigFish Plaques" for biggest in each species in AOTY and DOTY.

And don't forget bragging rights, and the ability to keep track of your personal bests throughout the year and over multiple years.

All this for a $40 entrance fee that goes directly to the PIF recipient after the $ for plaques was set aside.

Proud to be able to help organize AOTY and DOTY and hope the folks playing are having fun!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Scott, next year we have been talking about adding on a Junior Division for AOTY and DOTY...I think it would be feasible to add on a similar board for the Juniors and FAOTY like we have for the Sail Leader Board...

http://aoty.norcalkayakanglers.com/leaderboard/saillist

And then solicit prizes for the kids and you Fly Guys (with any help the community can provide greatly appreciated  :smt002)...PM me and bwodun and maybe we can make it happen?

I think it would be cool to have one for polespear guys on DOTY as well... :smt001

Sincerely,

Jim

Okay just got word back from Jeff with some more details. This is a 2014 Moken 14 in Safety Orange (Rider Orange). The kayak was held as a demo but never used so it is a brand new kayak. So sweet!!!
