________________________________
White Shark, approximately 5.5 meters TL. Cruising thru the luxuriously warm water off of Fort Ord Beach and Marina, shadowing a pod of dolphins and orbiting within less that 100 feet of shore. Same shark observed on 3 of our flights today from Watsonville Airport (Specialized Aviation) to Big Sur coastline and back. No drama. We haven't seen a lot of sharks this year compared to last season or previous seasons, but we did find a big one day.
Life Guards are on it and watching over the beaches in their truck and we are keeping them updated with reports.

I work right across the street from Specialized Aviation.  I'll have to go see if I can hitch a ride along sometime! :smt007

was thinking the same thing...they do group deals for a few folks at a time....also thought about asking Sean the shark guy about helping out one day and seeing if one year I could do a ride along when they go tag or do research...fill some small task or just ride along...I sent him our link for the GWS thread on NCKA ,and he was thankful for our collective sets of eyes otw and reporting...he always has good things to say when I post kayak stuff on my FB page...cool guy...great resource of local intel and GWS knowledge as it developes

S.A. flies a lot of small 2-seater copters for training .... though, you won't get me up in the air with some trainee over THOSE waters :smt005  I watch those trainees from our office floating down the runway sideways, backwards  ... every which way but up & out!

Now I'm glad I went biking instead of fishing...

Someone recently told me they witnessed a GWS feeding on a sealion out by the red can a few weeks ago off mbk.  From their description, there was no mistake.  And that's just like at 140fow...  There was another eye witness of a shark feeding right off the beach next to the SC harbor a few more weeks ago.  There are also often shark sightings in Cap/Newbrighton this time of year.  It's a sharky time of year for sure!

And the 18ft shark they spotted on Sunday was found again on Monday cruising the same area off Marina...creepy stuff.

The news last night talked about it but it was just a little 3' Salmon shark pup near Monterey.

Amy's Iphone had a post on her news this morning, she was reading to me, as I left for work saying a dying baby white shark is- in -and around -the harbor, with info on how to report it's location/condition if you spot it...find it dead...
wonder if these reports or even our members jump sighting this weekend are all related

Wonder if that is the same salmon shark they reported on last night that was near that area.  Could be mis-id for a 'white shark'

The link I posted above has 2 videos of the baby gws. At first, it was considered a salmon shark because we don't get baby gws around here. BUT...Sean Van Sommeran says the shark in the videos IS a baby gws; not a salmon shark.

The funny thing is me & Pablito fished that same area for stripers on Saturday. But there was too much junk in the water so we went to the wharf for macs & sardines. We must've barely missed that shark!
