CCK recycled my Outback that I took to them for assistance in a warranty exchange, without even asking me first. :smt013

WTF? That sucks! :smt009
If you warranted the hull then they have to destroy the old one, but they should have told you what was going on.

I talked to Keith and let him know everything. The rod holders should be covered under warranty and said he will have Jeff contact me about the seat. I also made the suggestion of stocking some of the accessories for the FeelFree track system.

Nope, didn't get a new hull.

I've been "Out to Sea"  and looks like whatever misunderstanding is being taken care of…

But I can tell you with whatever credit I have on this board,

That Keith and CC&K are stand up people that really care about costumer service and doing the right thing…

It is true that not everyone is a die hard Kayakfisherman, I know, hard to believe and makes no sense to me at all to be on a kayak on the water and not have a fishing pole with you…

  but it's true,

I'm sure Keith will rectify the situation…

Keith has also been a strong Supporter of Nor Cal HOW giving us a Hobie Quest an other accessories…

He's actually working on getting some other stuff we need right now thats going to save us between $200 and $300 bucks,,,

 so give CC&K another try...

That's just not making sense to me.  As I understand, you, AlsHobieOutback, take your kayak in for a warranty issue, they strip the kayak and give you the parts back but not your hull or a replacement hull.  They tell you they 'recycled' the hull, what ever that means, but sounds like it means they destroyed it so it couldn't be used again and the raw materials recovered.

Is that what happened?  No explanation from them?  Something is missing here...

I've never heard of such a thing from any retailer.  I've been to CCK in Rancho and bought a kayak as well as several other items from them.  They have always been very reasonable to me.

I wonder what their side of the story is.  I bet a lot of folks here will be subscribing to this thread to find out how this ends.

That is an interesting one and one to watch. After talking to Keith tonight, I've gained a lot of respect back for his company. I have no doubt that this would be taken care of.

I didn't mention being a NCKA member, but I just bought a Revo 11 from them on Saturday.

Last Tuesday I called the Oakland CCK to see how much  they were selling a Revo 11 for.  They gave me a great price.  I also bought a bunch of accessories.  They gave me a 10% discount because I bought a kayak.

I picked it up on Saturday.   I thought the service could have been better, but they were really busy.  On Sunday I realized that they did not give me a paddle.   I called them and they said it was no problem and they would ship it to me.  I received it today.

I'm happy with their service and price.

The link below is to CCK's response.  There ARE two sides to every story.  You be the judge.

Ya, wondering why you felt the need to post that and the link to the other thread...

Jeff and Keith have been made aware of this and they will be taking care of you John.

Discount or not, after my last trip to the cck in Rancho, the lack of customer service that I received and treatment that I felt I received, I probably won't go back to them. They acted like they couldn't care less about the cracked rod holders on my wife's Moken that we just bought there a couple weeks before.

I have no stake in any of this.  Actually the whole conversation is disappointing.  Ideally this miscommunication error would be solved outside of the community and these threads would, by mutual consent, be removed entirely.  This discourse does not add value - IMHO.
