I was surfing the DFG and thought this would be good info to know if you thought you caught a fish heavier than the ones listed here.

It would be cool if a kayak angler could manage to get a state record at some point.

I actually think we should keep a list of NCKA records somewhere on this site for reference.  The only rule should be, caught on a kayak by a member of this board.  In otherwords, any catches prior to becoming an NCKA member don't count.

This sounds like a great idea! Let's see inches or pounds? With 830 and counting members we should be able to get some pretty good NCKA records that compare with the state records. We need a list of all the fish we catch and some rules (please not as  :smt013 as IFGA, but some simple rules) Who wants to set it up?

Yeah I need to figure out how to "certify" entries. Official scales and certified scales are alwyas kinda a hassle to confirm. Personally I like length because it is a bit easier to verify.

Juding fish by length seems like a flawed method when James' king and mine were both around 40+ but they differed by so much in weight...

I like the idea though.   :smt003

I hear what you are saying AbKing but finding a certified scale can be a real pain sometimes, especially if you are fishing someplace remote like Big Sur or Elk etc...

I am open to suggestions or maybe a poll on length vs weight. Where is John Airey when you need him  :smt003

You couls always add girth to the length measurement.   Either for breaking ties or for estimating weight.  Depending on the species of fish, there are pretty decent formulas to take length and girth and come up with the weight.
